Are You a Good Candidate for BOTOX Injections?

BOTOX Cosmetic is quite effective at smoothing facial wrinkles that are caused by facial expressions – called dynamic wrinkles. These primarily include crow's feet and glabellar lines between the brows, as well as some other lines of the upper face. BOTOX uses an active ingredient called botulinum toxin type A, which effectively relaxes muscles and makes it difficult for dynamic wrinkles to form in the first place.

You are likely a good candidate for BOTOX injections if you meet the following criteria:

  • You have moderate to severe dynamic wrinkles around the eyes or forehead
  • You do not have excess, sagging skin in the treatment area
  • You are in generally good health
  • You are not allergic to any ingredient in BOTOX Cosmetic

The Procedure

Most BOTOX injection appointments are completed within 30 minutes. BOTOX will help smooth crow's feet around the eyes, horizontal forehead furrows, and forehead lines between your eyebrows known as worry lines. BOTOX injections involve the following steps:

  • Patients are asked to frown and scowl to clearly locate the muscles that will be injected.
  • The injection area is thoroughly cleansed with an antiseptic.
  • A series of injections is made using a small needle.
  • There is no recovery time necessary after BOTOX injections. Patients should avoid lying down right away to prevent swelling. Avoid strenuous activity immediately after. Avoid getting facials, chemical peels, microdermabrasion, etc. for 24 hours.

After Treatment

The results from BOTOX can be seen within a couple days of treatment, with the full effects seen in 2 weeks.

You can return to work and go back to your normal activities immediately, however it is recommended that you avoid strenuous activities for the rest of the day.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long will my results last?

The duration of your results depends on your own physiology as well as how much product was administered. In general, however, you can expect to enjoy your results for about 4 months.

Is it safe to keep coming back for touch-ups?

Absolutely. The safety of BOTOX is well-established, and there's no harm or danger in undergoing multiple treatments in order to maintain your results. In fact, many repeat patients have noticed that, over time, they need to come in for touch-ups less frequently. This is likely because the continuous reduction in muscle movement actually softens creases beneath the skin, creating long-term improvement.

Do you offer other choices for non-surgical facial enhancement?

Yes. We're pleased to offer an array of options for facial rejuvenation, including dermal fillers, which add volume to smooth lines and wrinkles. Patients with sagging skin, particularly jowls and neck bands, may be good candidates for facelift surgery. Nonsurgical treatments, such as chemical peels and laser resurfacing improve the appearance and texture of the skin. These treatments can be used on their own or in conjunction with one another for a more comprehensive result.
